El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank has created Twilight Hour—a new volunteer program available on the first and third Thursday of every month from 6 PM – 9 PM. This opportunity is ideal for local civic or business groups who want to make a difference in their community but cannot volunteer their time during regular business hours.
“Volunteers play a critical role in the food bank’s daily work and that is why we want to provide people with every opportunity we can to help us combat hunger,” said Samara Maggard, Volunteer Coordinator with El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank.
The demand for emergency food in El Paso is incredibly high with an estimated 200,000+ people in need in our community. Everyday El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank (EPFHFB) supports 132 Soup Kitchens, Shelters and Pantries, of which 14 are located in schools. Additionally, EPFHFB provides distribution to 130 mobile client choice pantries in a 3 county area.
“We are grateful for the generosity of time offered by so many talented people. Their effort is an important resource that is much needed in the fight against hunger,” stated Samara Maggard.
Twilight Hour Volunteering will also include a light snack and an optional Mocktail Hour (non-alcoholic mixed drinks) starting at 5 PM with a tour of the warehouse. Specific volunteer work ranges from pulling orders, processing, to sorting and packing food and ensuring food doesn’t go to waste.
Support a great cause! Become a community partner and help El Pasoans Fighting Hunger achieve its mission of helping feed the hungry in El Paso, Hudspeth, and Culberson counties.
