Social Services Coordinator Selected as THHSC Community Partner Forum Panelist

El Pasoans Fighting Hunger’s Social Services Coordinator, April Rosales, was selected to speak as a panelist at the Upper Rio Grande Valley Regional Community Partner Forum. The forum was on Wednesday, May 10 at El Paso Community College Administrative Services Building A.

Out of the 138 community partners, Rosales was chosen as one of the top three. Rosales is El Pasoans Fighting Hunger’s only Social Services Coordinator. She assists clients with applying for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) along with other Texas benefits and offers home visits to assists clients.

“I assisted one client who opened her cabinets to show me that she had no food then three days after helping her with her SNAP application and she had tears in her eyes, thanking me for our assistance,” April said. “All of us here at the Food Bank are part of the puzzle to making sure no one goes hungry.”

Rosales had the opportunity as a panelist to share ways to build community relationships to better connect clients to services. Forum participants also received programmatic and technological updates and information.

In addition to the panel, informational training topics and activities offered included: CPP Program Updates, YourTexasBenefits.com Overview, community partner best practices, and getting the most from your partnership.
