It is a month when people all over the nation mobilize and take action in the fight against hunger. El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank is proud to rally with Feeding America and our network of over 200 food banks nationwide to encourage everyone to raise awareness of food insecurity and dedicate ourselves toward a solution.
This year, we are partnering with Albertson's to fight child hunger in our community. 1 in 3 children here in El Paso is food insecure. So we are taking this month to focus our efforts on ensuring borderland children eat this September! Through challenging times, our community has always maintained a spirit of HOPE. Please join us in fighting hunger to provide HOPE for today and HOPE for the future.
The nation as a whole is feeling the effect of rising prices. The continued inflation crisis is pulling more money out of everyone's wallet, but the impact is felt most by people already struggling to put food on their table. The El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank is also struggling with the economic storm. Providing food for people in an isolated desert is challenging. We don't have an overabundance of local farms or food producers to supply us with food, and local food markets have less on the shelves meaning we receive less from them. This situation pushes us to ship more food from outside of our area. In addition, inflation, gas prices, and fewer truck drivers impact what we can provide. However, one thing never changes, the line of people that need food.
