(February 11, 2019) El Paso, TX-- The 27th annual letter carriers’ food drive, Stamp Out Hunger®, will be on Saturday, May 11, 2019. El Pasoans Fighting Hunger and the National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC), along with United Way of El Paso County, encourages residents to donate non-perishable food items to help feed our community.
El Paso residents can leave their donation of non-perishable goods in paper bags, distributed by letter carriers', next to their mailbox on Stamp Out Hunger Day~May 11th. All food donations will benefit El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank, the distribution center for more than 130 local food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to continue feeding food insecure individuals in El Paso, Culberson and Hudspeth Counties.
The Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive is the nation's largest single-day food drive. On this day, 212,000 letter carriers collect food donations left at resident mailboxes and distributes them to local food banks. This annual event occurs in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam. Want to Donate Food?
Non-perishable food items include: canned fruits, canned vegetables, peanut butter, 100% fruit juices, soups, cereals, canned meats, pasta, pasta sauce, canned tuna and oatmeal.
