We need 100 Volunteers for Stamp Out Hunger

Join Us for Stamp Out Hunger 2026
Every year, Stamp Out Hunger brings our community together for one of the largest one-day food drives in the country, in partnership with the National Association of Letter Carriers. In just a few hours, thousands of pounds of food are collected across El Paso as letter carriers pick up donations left by neighbors and deliver them to local post offices.
That’s where volunteers help. They sort and pack the food so it can go to the food bank and reach families in need. Because so much food comes in at once, we need 100 volunteers to help move it quickly.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a volunteer, you will play a key role in making sure food gets to families as quickly as possible. Tasks include:
- Showing up in numbers at postal offices across the region to help handle the donations
- Sorting and organizing donated food items so everything is easy to pack and distribute
- Checking and separating non-perishable donations to make sure everything is safe and ready for families
- Packing food so it can go to local food bank
- Working with other volunteers to keep everything moving
Your time and effort help ensure that every donation is handled efficiently and reaches those who need it most.
Your Help Matters
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger has been there through tough times after the Northeast water main break, during the 2025 holiday season, and during the government shutdown, which left many families facing uncertainty.
The food collected during Stamp Out Hunger helps restock our shelves after the holidays. With summer approaching, one of the busiest times for food distribution, when children are out of school, restocking now helps ensure we can support families who rely on us to fill that gap.
When thousands of pounds of food arrive in one afternoon, volunteers are what keeps everything running smoothly. Every volunteer helps turn donations into meals for neighbors who need them.
Stamp Out Hunger is Saturday May 9th, 2026
Most volunteer shifts run from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM, with a couple of later options available.
Volunteer Requirements
- Must be 12 years or older. Anyone under the age of 18 will need a chaperone.
- Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in
- Closed-toe shoes are mandatory (no sandals, Crocs, or slippers)
Volunteer Locations: Click on a post office to register for that specific location. Help us reach our 10 volunteer per site goal!

The Fight Against Hunger Continues
Stamp Out Hunger plays an important role in supporting our Stock the Shelves campaign. The goal is simple but critical: restock the food at your local food bank that has been stretched thin by the growing need for food assistance.
But One Day Isn’t Enough
While Stamp Out Hunger brings in a large volume of food, it can’t meet the year-round demand. Food moves quickly through our warehouse, and without ongoing support, families can still go without the meals they need.
With your donations, we can provide a consistent source of nourishment to those who rely on us for food. Every dollar you donate turns into food for 7 meals.
Additionally, if you give now, your donation will be matched up to $11,500 thanks to our match sponsors. That means when you donate $25, we can provide 350 meals to our neighbors. Together, we can ensure that no one goes hungry.
