The days leading up to Thanksgiving are the busiest time of the year for El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. As families prepare for the holiday weekend, the need for food assistance increases dramatically. To meet this heightened demand, we are calling on our community for help. Starting Monday November 25th, we urgently need volunteers to ensure food distributions run smoothly and that we can serve as many families as possible.
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23. However, the days leading up to the holiday, particularly Wednesday, November 22, are expected to see an extraordinary influx of families seeking assistance. This week is a time when our community depends on us most, and volunteers are critical in helping us meet this challenge.
“This is a time for families,” said CEO Susan Goodell. “At El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, we want to ensure our neighbors can enjoy their holiday without worrying about food. But we can only do that by working ‘Together,’ and volunteers play a vital role in making that possible.”
We need volunteers to assist with:
Every extra set of hands makes a significant impact, helping us ensure a smoother process and allowing us to reach more families in need. Whether you can volunteer for a few hours or an entire day, your time will directly support our mission of alleviating hunger in our community.
For those who cannot make it to the food bank, we encourage you to visit one of our 100 pantry partners. These partners, who receive free food from El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, are also dedicated to helping our neighbors in need. To find a distribution site near you, visit elpasoansfightinghunger.org/need-help and download the list from the “Find Pantry Partners” section.
Our food resources are donated, and while we strive to offer a variety of nutritious items, traditional Thanksgiving staples like turkey and stuffing are in especially high demand and may not be available. We encourage families to take advantage of the fresh and shelf-stable items we do provide, which are essential for a nutritious holiday meal.
This Thanksgiving, let’s come together as a community to ensure no family in El Paso goes hungry. Sign up to volunteer today and make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors. Together, we can feed hope, one family at a time.
