Position Available: Volunteer Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:Volunteer Coordinator

Reports To:Chief Development Officer

Direct Reports:None

POSITION SUMMARY: With guidance and support from the Chief Development Officer, this position is responsible for:

  • A multi-faceted recruitment and development of a broad base of community volunteers to include individuals, schools, churches, and companies. Goal of the recruitment strategy is forty volunteers per shift in all areas of the Food Bank to include processing, mobile pantries, marketing, development, and administration.Other areas of recruitment include finding volunteers for events outside of the Food Bank.
  • Development of Volunteer Opportunities with Adult Probation, the El Paso City and County Courts, and the Sherriff’s Department.
  • Track all volunteer hours and volunteer contact information.
  • Work with the Chief Development Officer and the Director of Operations to insure a steady communication flow.
  • Send confirming correspondence to individuals, companies, schools, and church groups who will be volunteering.

MAJOR DUTIES AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, develop, evaluate and promote a volunteer utilization program from a diverse pool of active volunteers from the community.
  • Engage in volunteer management best practices.
  • Create a fun and rewarding volunteer experience.
  • Maintain awareness relative to the field at the regional, state and national level.
  • Ensure that volunteers are trained in personal safety as well as safe food handling practices.
  • Maintain current and accurate volunteer records and submit required reporting in a timely manner.
  • Send appreciation letters and photos to groups within 48 hours.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all EPFH customers including EPFH clients, staff, donors, logistics personnel, agency personnel, volunteers, board members, and the general public.
  • Duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience: Associates degree, Bachelors preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Two years of successful customer service experience requiring strong attention to detail.Work week will be Tuesday through Saturday and some evenings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects and consistently meet deadlines;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Ability to appropriately interact with people while maintaining excellent customer service;
  • Proficiency with basic software programs such as MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to learn the Donor Vantage Program
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively under periodically stressful conditions
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Self motivated with the ability to interact in a team environment;
  • Positive and professional attitude and demeanor
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to pass random drug testing
