Food FARMacy Dietician
Full-Time: 40 hours per week
Location: 9541 Plaza Circle, El Paso, TX 79927
Reports to: Director of Programs
Position Summary:
Oversee day-to-day operations at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger’s Food FARMacy which requires frequent contact with volunteers, community partners, and healthcare providers. Provide nutrition consultations and nutrition education for people with diet-related chronic diseases and triage patients to community resources.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with patients, partners, and operations.
Patients:
- Provide excellent customer service to Food FARMacy clients
- Assist patients with selecting foods appropriate for their chronic conditions
- Develop culturally-appropriate nutrition information materials (i.e. flyers, brochures, recipes)
- Document patient visits using Intake Database
- Create and administer assessments to track changes in client nutrition knowledge and behavior for reporting and evaluation
- Work with patients to track dietary restrictions and nutrition goals
- Create mechanisms for client feedback
- Participate in Food FARMacy program analysis and evaluation efforts
Partners:
- Attend community events related to the Food FARMacy
- Collaborate with healthcare organizations to engage them as healthcare partners
- Maintain regular communication and feedback loops with healthcare partners
- Lead or host nutrition education events with community partners (i.e. cooking demos, samples, health fairs, etc.)
Operations:
- Assist with maintaining food supply at the Food FARMacy by selecting food from the warehouse, logging the inventory
- Maintain food safety standards for storage and distribution
- Oversee volunteer activities and maintain behaviors consistent with EPFH standards
- Work closely with leadership to ensure effective and efficient program and service
- Implement a nutrition labeling system and ensure that it is maintained by Food FARMacy staff
Qualifications:
- Communicate effectively in English and Spanish
- Dietetic degree from an accredited school and one year of dietetic experience in a clinical setting
- 2 years experience working in a community setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Current ServSafe Food Protection Managers license
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects and consistently meet deadlines;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy;
- Strong Customer Service skills;
- Computer skills to enter client orders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish;
- Flexible and quickly adapt to changing priorities;
- Work effectively under periodically stressful conditions;
- Good problem-solving skills;
- Work well independently, as well as a member of teams;
- Positive and professional attitude and demeanor;
- Ability to pass a background check;
- Ability to pass random drug testing.
