AmeriCorps VISTA Program Manager

Full-Time: 40 hours per week

Location: 9541 Plaza Circle, El Paso, TX 79927

Reports to: Director of Programs

Position Summary:

The VISTA Project Manager is responsible for organizing, managing, operations, and oversight of the AmeriCorps VISTA Program at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, the foodbank serving El Paso, Hudspeth, and Culberson Counties. The Project Manager will manage the VISTA program, collaborate with various project leads within EPFH, and, working alongside project leads, supervise VISTA members helping ensure our food-insecure neighbors have access to food.

Major Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the development and oversight of the plan to recruit VISTA members.
  • Develop assignment descriptions, service opportunity listings, and member reports.
  • Recruit and interview potential VISTA members making special efforts to recruit diverse individuals.
  • Maintain accurate records of members’ hours and mileage reports.
  • Develop and coordinate volunteer appreciation events.
  • Coordinate training, speakers, and presentations for VISTA On-Site Orientation and Training.
  • Assist in assessing changing needs of the program and VISTA members and offer plans for improvement.
  • Maintain effective and efficient record-keeping procedures.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with members, program staff, EPFH 2 Leadership, and other stakeholders regularly to enhance the VISTA experience.
  • Complete identified VISTA reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that program goals and performance measures as identified are met.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating, and reports.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or experience equivalent
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience and a history of community-focused work
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish
  • Must pass a background check • Ability to work as a collaborative team member
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, be team-oriented, demonstrate strong organizational skills, take initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, oral, and interpersonal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous AmeriCorps experience

Woking Conditions & Physical Demands

This position operates in a typical office and warehouse environment and requires constant use of a computer and other office equipment, such as phones, calculators, computer printers, and copy machines. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., as well as moving safely throughout the warehouse.

The person in this position frequently communicates with internal and external stakeholders (food bank leadership and staff, potential VISTA members). This position requires occasional local travel for meetings (reliable transportation is needed) and recruitment events. Infrequent national and/or overnight travel may be required for AmeriCorps meetings. Occasional night, weekend or on-call work may be required.

Position Type & Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). It is not eligible for overtime pay. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position may require occasional evenings or weekends.

Salary Range & Benefits

The salary range for this position depends on experience. Benefits include: paid time off, health/dental/life insurance, 401(k) retirement savings plan, etc.
