A Letter from the Board Chair: Food Bank Welcomes New CEO

Dear Food Bank Supporter,

After conducting a national search, the Board of El Pasoans Fighting Hunger has hired a new Chief Executive Officer, Susan Goodell, effective on January 2, 2018. Susan will be replacing Victor Nevarez, a founding Board Member, and Interim Chief Executive Officer. Victor’s two year term included dramatic growth of the Food Bank and accreditation as a full member in the Feeding America Network.

Susan was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Global Fund for Children in Washington D.C, where she led efforts to transform the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children by strengthening grassroots organizations in 52 countries. For thirteen years before that, she was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Forgotten Harvest in Oak Park, MI, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing surplus, prepared, and perishable food for distribution to 260 emergency food providers throughout Southeast Michigan and Southwest Ontario, Canada. Susan increased revenue from $300,000 to $86 million annually, and increased food distribution from 800,000 pounds per year to over 48 million pounds annually. She accomplished this through innovative solutions to food rescue and farming, fundraising and capital campaigns to meet facility needs.
